Neyala Thomas is a passionate advocate with lived experience in both youth and adult incarceration, having spent her formative years in the system from ages 13 to 21. Her firsthand knowledge fuels her deep commitment to uplifting and supporting young people impacted by the criminal legal system. Neyala is dedicated to amplifying youth voices and creating the kind of support and guidance she didn’t have growing up.
She is currently training to become a certified peer specialist and is an active member of The Wright Cause Urban Youth Conservation, where she works to align her goals with direct action and community care. Neyala is also a participant in the George Jackson Organizing School, where she is expanding her leadership skills and deepening her understanding of movement history and the struggles of people of color. Through her work, Neyala continues to be a powerful force for change, grounded in resilience, advocacy, and youth empowerment.
